The Patrons Lunch
On Sunday 12th June, 10,000 guests descended on The Mall in central London for the Patron's Lunch, a picnic lunch which was held to celebrate HM The Queen's 90th birthday and also her patronage of more than 600 organisations in the UK and around the Commonwealth.
The Boys' Brigade is one of the 600, and Tom Boorman (3rd Enfield) and Philip Norman (10th Enfield) joined other BB members from around the country for the event. The Mall was lined with picnic tables and seating, and each guest received a hamper of food. A carnival parade passed through, with different sections symbolising each decade of the Queen's reign.
Unfortunately, one of the main features of the event was that there was quite a lot of rain! However, this didn't dampen spirits and the weather improved in time for members of the Royal Family to walk along The Mall greeting guests (we had a brief chat with the Duke of York). The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh then travelled from Buckingham Palace to Admiralty Arch for some speeches, before returning along The Mall to watch the parade.
It was a lovely day celebrating the Queen's birthday, and one which will stay in the memory of those present.

It involves the team walking 30 miles between checkpoints over the two days, whilst carrying all of their equipment, and camping overnight where they have to prepare their own meals.
It was a very new experience for our team, with none of them ever having done anything like this before. We are very proud of them for taking part and reaching the finish - which not all teams manage. The team came 8th out of 16. A very big well done to Ben, Ben and Alex!
Our good friends from the 3rd Enfield also had a team in the main event, as both Companies were using it as a practice expedition for the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.

On Sunday we held our celebration service for the 90 years our BB company has been running at Winchmore Hill Baptist Church.
This has been a great achievement with 1000's of boys going through the company over this time.
Many things have changed since the time when the company was formed we have seen minsters come & go, boys interests / hobbies change so we have adapted over time to meet their needs, but not every thing changes likes the commitment of the staff to help the boys / young men in the local community through BB.
The service was lead by Chris Norman & was
themed around the BB's moto "Sure & Steadfast", we were joined at
the service by our GB company, parents & friends, old boys from the company
& members of the congregation.
During the service we had a small quiz. There were two teams & each team consisted of a BB boy, GB girl, old boy from BB & a church member, there were various questions some aimed at the intended groups so everyone could get some of the questions.

lunch which all were welcome to attend, one of our previous ministers the Rev
