On Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May, two teams from our Company age group took part in the Waltham Walk, a challenge expedition which takes place each year in the Essex countryside.
Over the two days they had to use their map reading skills to navigate between a series of checkpoints, walking about 9 miles on each day. They scored points based on their time taken to complete each leg, and at each checkpoint there was a team challenge to gain extra points from.
Overnight they had to camp, setting up their tent themselves and preparing their own meals for Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast.
Unfortunately one of our teams had a member drop out which meant they did not get an official placing, but our other team did well throughout the weekend and came 8th out of 10 in their Mini Trek category, which is really good for a team with no experience at all of the event, as many in that position find it challenging without outside help. A very big well done to each of the boys!
